The Carrera has a 3.6 engine with 345 hp; the Carrera 4S is 3.8 and 385 hp. These engines are new and characterized because they have direct fuel injection (DFI). They have a very good performance, better performance and fuel economy than the outgoing engines.   

However, the aspect where the new 911 progresses most is because it now has an excellent automatic gearshift. It´s called "PDK" and is one of the most recommended options available. It is a double clutch case box similar to those of other manufacturers (the Volkswagen "DSG" or the Audi "S-Tronic"); its advantage over conventional automatic gearboxes is that they change gears very quickly and without interrupting the engine power output.
