The 4MATIC all-wheel drive system is permanent with 45:55 (front:rear) torque distribution via a planetary gear. It is new that the transfer case is no longer housed in the gearbox to be an additional module, with its own lubrication circuit. According to Mercedes-Benz this new distribution represents a saving of 12 kg.
