There are two options designed to improve comfort when driving with the roof down. One is the windbreaker that is placed just behind the front seats, cancelling the rear. When it is not used, it can be stored in the space designed for this purpose behind the rear seats. The other, the two hot air outlets placed on the backs of the front seats, at the height of the neck, which produce a “virtual thermal scarf”. It is a system similar to that used by Mercedes-Benz and Peugeot in some of their convertibles. According to BMW, "If the roof is open, the conditioning system automatically regulates the temperature based on the outside temperature and the speed of the car."
