The V8 Vantage engine is located in the longitudinal centre front position, behind the front axle. The gearbox is located in front of the rear axle. Between them there is a rigid joint (an aluminium tube) that houses the drive shaft, made of carbon fibre.  This mechanical arrangement is called "Transaxle."

The chassis is made of aluminium and pieces of composite material. It shares some manufacturing techniques with Aston Martin Vanquish, such as joining pieces with a mixed riveting and gluing system. In the chassis there are cast, extruded and pressed parts. The bodywork is made of aluminium, magnesium (interior part of the doors) and steel (rear wings) panels. There are also parts of composite material (front wings).
